Spring 2023 Bridal Trends as seen at New York Bridal Market

By Kelly Hill

October is always a fun month in the bridal world because the New York Bridal Fashion Market is underway with new styles and trends for the Spring and Summer 2023 brides. This bridal market certainly did not disappoint! So many unique fashion trends from new and upcoming designers as well as a mix of the classic and timeless from seasoned designers alike. I'm going to just give you a sneak peak of the top 5 bridal trends that I loved at NYBFW. I cannot wait to bring these trends to our Tri- State brides!

1.) Corsetry

Many designers are using this age old tradition of exposed boning in the bodice to create a tailored and fitted look that gives the bride a beautiful waistline. This is a beautiful and timeless look that will never go out of style!

2.) Overskirts = overskirts have been around for a couple of seasons, but seem to just now becoming an overwhelming style for most designers. The overskirt is amazing because the bride can have her fitted look of her bridal gown, but them also pair it with a full skirt to give her the ballgown look she wants as well. The best part is that the bride can take the overskirt off for her reception and basically has two looks in one!

3.) Mini dresses = Many of the designers showcased a whole line of short and midi dresses for the brides who want to change their look for the reception, or for brides who want a more simple and fun look for her wedding. COVID definitely gave designers the inspiration of short dresses since so many brides were having smaller weddings and elopements. I believe this trend will be around for a very long time now!

4.) Sparkle = Sparkle has always been a favorite amongst bridal designers and this year was no exception! So many designers featured gowns with sumptuous jewels and sequins that gave the bridal gown that “WOW” factor! You can never go wrong with Sparkle!

5.) Gorgeous Gloves = This classic accessory has found its way back into the bridal world, and I am not mad about it! So many designers featured gloves with their simple, elegant gowns to make a bold statement. Many gloves were adorned with floral appliques, pearls, and feathers! This is a trend that I want to stay around forever!

These five trends are just a sampling of the amazing designs showcased at NYBFW this past week.
